Where Tank Welding Machines Are Used
Single, twin, jacking and mini tank welding machines: what each is for, and how automation helps in storage tank manufacturing.
When large storage tanks are built on site, welding circumferential seams by hand is slow and makes quality depend on the operator. Tank welding machines travel along the tank shell and complete these seams automatically.
Machine types
- Single tank welding machine: Travels on the tank in suspended configuration, welds one side and is run by one operator.
- Twin tank welding machine: Welds both sides of the tank at once with two operators.
- Jacking type: Travels on the floor; preferred when tanks are built by jacking them upwards.
- Mini type: A compact solution for smaller plate heights.
Benefits
- Shorter build times
- Smooth, repeatable circumferential seams
- Less work at height
