What to Consider When Setting Up a Robotic Welding Cell

Choosing the robot, positioner, fixtures and slider for a robotic welding cell, and the key steps to an efficient cell.

Robotic welding delivers repeatable quality and high output in series production. But an efficient cell takes more than choosing a robot.

Cell components

  • Robot: Chosen by payload and reach to suit the workpiece.
  • Positioner: H, K and L type robotic positioners bring the part to where the robot can reach it best.
  • Fixture: Holds the part in exactly the same position every time.
  • Slider and gantry: Extend the robot's working area for large parts.

Planning steps

  1. Define the parts to be welded and the annual volumes.
  2. Map out seam positions and access requirements.
  3. Plan for the positioner and fixture to work in sync with the robot.
  4. Design safety fencing and operator loading areas.

At Acos Makina we design robotic application systems to each customer's needs.
